Today the other foreign teacher was conversing with a higher level student.
“How was your weekend?”
“It was awesome.”
“Nice. What happened?”
“I got a terrible score on my test.”
“Um, and?”
“It was cold.”
So the foreign teacher is like “WTF” and checks to make sure the student knows what “awesome” means. The student, who is the best in the class, does not. The student is like “WTF” and whips out a sheet given to her by the director. The sheet, which they need to study for a test, says that awesome means terrible. It’s a bit disheartening marking tests and putting in all of this work, and a good student who deserves a decent school gets shammed like that. This isn’t the only occurrence of this type of thing; almost all of the lengthy homework and tests we give have errors on them. I just don’t have the time nor the inclination to check them all.
My school is “awesome”.
